Message from the Mayor of Brava to the residents, emigrants, and especially Bravenses,
Dear Citizens, Emigrants, and especially Bravenses, As Mayor of Brava, I address you on behalf of our entire community to share with you our feeling of deep gratitude.
As is already public knowledge, in the early hours of March 26, 2025, a devastating fire broke out at the Nova Sintra Shopping Center, the causes of which have yet to be determined, leaving deep scars on our island.
Various families have lost their livelihoods, with stores completely destroyed, others partially damaged and damage affecting small businesses, kiosks and essential goods, and the structure of the building may be at risk, requiring urgent intervention, in a context of great difficulty for our people.
At this challenging time, our teams are on the ground, in partnership with the Government of Cape Verde, carrying out a detailed survey of the damage, visiting house to house to understand the losses of each household and define the most urgent needs. We'll share the results and extent of the damage soon, but today we want, above all, to appreciate your attitude

We deeply appreciate your efforts to mobilize resources and support, showing once again that Brava lives in you, wherever you are.
With your solidarity, we firmly believe that we will soon be able to counteract this situation that has befallen us. And together, we will restore dignity to the families affected and rebuild the jobs that the flames stole from us, making Brava an example of resilience and unity.
The Brava City Council is determined to lead this process with transparency and commitment, counting on your support as an essential pillar of this recovery.
